Gifts Out of the Blue

I am learning not to be surprised when unexpected gifts arrive.

I was very surprised the other day when our next door neighbor told us we can use the bark in their pile out by their drive.  We have wanted to put something on the flowerbeds rather than just bare earth and weeds coming up.  So last weekend, Eddie is out with the garden cart taking trips back and forth for bark.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

He accomplish a lot over the weekend and it was such a big difference to what we had.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

He started with the bed down by the garage, took him a while but it began to look wonderful.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

The garden cart was handy, though it was a lot of work to fill it, haul it and then empty it.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

It was frustrating to have  weeds come up after all the weeding and putting on Preen.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

We both know they will be back up because we didn’t  pull out the roots.  At least it will look nice for a bit and maybe we can stay ahead of the weeds.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

He started in the middle of this bed, then decided to work from one end to the other.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

It makes the beds really look nice.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

It was fun watching the progress down the bed.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

As always, he likes things to stay neat, so he swept after every load so it wouldn’t be all over the  porch or on the sidewalk.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Would you believe I did a little weeding myself?  We haven’t had rain for over a month, so it is easier to pull the weeds out when it is so dry.  Haven’t quite been able to thwart the ones in the cracks yet.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Eddie found a good way to work with the bark in the cart – he was really getting the hang of it by now.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Eddie has hidden talents in the garden – wonder what he will do next?

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

That last bit at the end is almost done.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

It also needs to be spread and evened out to make sure it looks good.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Last load for the end of the bed.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Some weeds to take out by the roots to keep them from coming back.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

I am so proud of the job Eddie did, it looks so much better than it did.

It was a generous offer by the Allens because we just found out this is the expensive kind of bark.  they came back and now have left again, so we didn’t have a chance to find out their reaction.  We have decided to invite them to dinner – if they will light somewhere long enough.  this time of year they spend a lot of time at the house on the Canal, just come back here for a few hours or overnight before going back.

Bits & Bobs

I have been fascinated all during the process of the remodel and learned quite a lot.  Along the way were some interesting things – as least to me.

For instance:

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

I just had to take a picture of Brad having lunch.  However, he is very smart to relax, even have a short nap to help his energy.  he finds lying down and eating that way works for him.  This day he was reviewing his list of what needs to be done.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

As I had said in one post, I seemed to have hot and cold running men in the house.  Brad’s truck was always parked on the left because that’s Eddie’s side and he was gone for the day.  I was parking my car over at Allen’s at times because the electrician – this is his truck – or the plumber or the inspector of the laminate guy or the tile guy parked on the right.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

This is Brad’s truck – it’s not one of those little small ones.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

It’s a big sucker, that is how he managed to get all the cabinets in the back when he took them to the dump – wish I had taken a picture of that!

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

He carries all his equipment in the back, though often he left a lot in the garage or in the kitchen.  We kept the garage locked so his tools were safe.

Day 27

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

It is truly the last day of the remodel.  I am going to miss having Brad here all day – we kid, laugh and I learn a lot from him.  plus, when it is hot, I can leave the wndows and door open when I leave because he is here.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

This house is not  completely plumb, so there have been some instances when things don’t fit perfectly.  then it is time to bring out the arsenal of hidden talents to create the perfect fit look.  for the  top of the crown molding there were places the ceiling was not completely square, so he put some caulking along the top edge – now it looks wonderful.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Brad has done such a wonderful job on all parts of the kitchen, the crown molding feels as if it is the final touch.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Love the new stove – not quite ready to bake in i it – though we have used the top burners.  Now to figure out the microwave and the convection oven.  Time to start reading the instructions.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Brad said he would be done by 2:30 – it was almost 6 when he left.  Just had to be sure the caulking and other things were done right.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Door knob for the basement door.  Unfortunately the way it was cut for the gold one isn’t quite right for this knob, so it is on the Brad List when he has more time.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

I find this 3 legged ladder interesting, probably should add it to my Bits & Bobs post.  He uses it a lot and it definitely had a workout during the project.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

There was a finish panel for under the cupboard with the fridge – it spent a long time leaning against the fireplace until it was time to install it.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

No more card board for the floor – also no more Brad to vacuum every afternoon before he left.  I am going to have to do it myself from now on.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

He put a trim at the edge of the floor for going down the basement steps to protect it from coming up.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

He put another trim edge for the doorway to the dining room as well.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Now the kitchen is pretty much finished except for the Brad List.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Eddie brought up some of our containers and washed them so we could have them on the counter.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

He also put in the door trim for the back door.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

I am so glad to to have the screen door again, too much effort to encourage the flies to go back outside when it was gone.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

We love the under cabinet lights, plus Brad added kick boards to the bottom of all the cabinets.  Gives it that finishing touch.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

About three weeks in the the project we bought an electric kettle so that we could have tea even if the stove wasn’t available.

Now it is time to move in officially, just have to figure out what is logical and efficient for our  needs.  Maybe we need to live with it for a bit first.

I hope you enjoyed the progress of this.  as I said in the beginning, I did the blog for my sisters since they live out of state and it was the easiest way to show them what was happening at each stage.  I am very appreciative of the people who have commented and told me how much they have enjoyed the blog.  I will probably do some posts on the progress of actually moving things in when we decide where to put them.

Thank you all for your interest.

Day 26

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

What a difference paint makes!  It is so much lighter and cleaner – it now looks and feels a part of the whole kitchen.  Brad is going to make new shelves for me at another time, in the mean time I will buy some white liner to put over the shelves.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

These are for different parts of the spaces where the 5″ molding goes.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

One goes here by the door and fridge.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Brad is busy cutting vinyl  flooring for the bottom of the pantry, making sure it will look as much like a part of the floor as possible.  Even has a piece for the top step of the basement stairs.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Just as I was about take a picture of him measuring and cutting, he pulled it up to install it.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Still a bit left, wonder if this is the piece that will fit on the top step?

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

The lovely shelves to the pantry – not sure who put the covering on them, I plan to have something clean and simple looking.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Turna out, they were a very snug fit, so Brad cut them to make them fit better.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

We had a cleaned up porch for a few days, back to  all kinds of things out while Brad worked with them.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Look at what a great job he did in making the pantry floor flow into the regular floor.  So cool!

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

The basement and pantry doors have spent a lot of time outside on the porch.  They were in the way for doing the pantry and of course Brad didn’t want his lovely paint job messed up.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

We noticed the basement door knob doesn’t match the rest of the kitchen, so Eddie and bought a door knob to match the back door.  We thought it would be on now but there is a slight glitch and Brad will be back again to fix it.  I have made a Brad List and that is one of the items on it.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

We bought a new phone – dark green just didn’t fit with the decor.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Among the three of us we managed to hook it up and now it works really nicely.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Another place the 5″ molding was to be installed.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Now the molding under the window above the kitchen sink is back – came out well.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Without curtains, the window seems bigger – but still just as dirty.  Windex, here I come!

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

At last, we have the screen door back.  Since there was a new door frame for our new back door, it no longer fit.  It has been a bonanza for flies and a little harder to keep a good breeze flowing when it is very warm – now we are set for coolness.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Still a couple of things for the the back step – on the Brad List.  We finally put a bulb in our new porch light and it is so great – I love it and it should give us good light as well as look good.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

More things on the porch, this time he put his equipment under his moving blanket for the night.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

These are the saw horses ad tables for his saws, he has certainly used them a lot.

Day 25

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

After the 4th of July weekend, I wasn’t sure when I would see Brad again.  I went to Breakfast Club on Wednesday, did a couple of errands and guess who was at the house when I came home!  He had come around 8 and had been working his tail off to put up the crown molding for the cupboards.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Turns out the crown molding is a two step process.  First is this lower piece that he had to measure and cut to fit.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Lousy picture I know – but you can see the first step as well as the inside of the cupboard.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

He had to go round corners as well .

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

The second step was the part that went up to the ceiling to give it that really cool, finished look.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

I am so pleased with it, I was’t sure what it would look like when it was finished.  Wow!

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

The hardest part was going around the left side of the pantry by the window – it wasn’t easy for him to work in that narrow corner.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

It is so amazing, the kind of look I have always wanted.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Yes, cardboard still on the floor but the kitchen looks so great.  When Brad is done, we will have the real floor.  He worked most of the day on the molding, more things on the list for tomorrow.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

It was finally time to empty the small pantry so Brad could paint it.  It looked so dark and dingy with the blue that we found on most of the walls when we moved in – glad to have it gone.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Now it is in the new pantry and it has worked out quite well.  One more step to a finished kitchen.

Day 24

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Eddie had the day off but didn’t go to Breakfast Club with me.  when I came home, I HAD KNOBS!

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

I love how they look and they look a lot like the back door knob and dead bolt.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

They look so cool!  They are just the right size, especially for putting my finger on them but not scratching the door or drawer.  Thanks to Brad for  showing me what to look for and the size.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

I  bought 36 and figured I would probably have one left over.  By George, I did.  I asked Brad to put it on the pantry door so it will be easier to open.  Of course, we talked about where, how far up or down and what to line it up with so it looked well.  We decided it would look better lining up with the basement door.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

The pantry cupboard looks cool as well as the over the fridge one.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

They look so well, a little pattern or interest, but not gaudy.  You can see we have moved a couple things into the kitchen already.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

The new baseboards look great at 5″, I don’t think they are too tall and they definitely cover that ugly glue from the old floor.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Molding for inside the new back door frame – we are really cooking now!

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Brad also put  insulation between the door fram and the wall so we won’t get drafts from the outside.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

It’s amazing all around with knobs, paint molding and appliances.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Well well, another empty parking space – the fridge is finally where it belongs.  Now we have to remember where it is.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

We also took up the camelhair rug, the dirt under it was enormous.  Thanks to Brad’s super duper vacuum, it made a huge difference getting all the dirt and debris out of there.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

My goodness, we do have proper furniture in the living room and that means shelvers in the cupboards.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Would you believe we have a new deadbolt for the front door?  It was not working all that well, so Brad was able to fix the lower part so it works so much more easily.  Plus, he found a locksmith who could replace the lock above.  It is an old door and we wondered if we needed a whole new lock and door handle – we are so glad it has worked out so well.  Now all the doors open with one key.

This is the last day for Brad, he has a holiday over the weekend and is picking up his daughter from Spokane to come back here for an internship as a physical therapist.  Monday Brad starts a big new project and will see what is schedule is, if there are some down days so he can come back to finish ours.  I told him to come any time, he doesn’t have to call since he has a key for the house and also the garage for his tools.  Now we can really start to move in and make it truly our kitchen!

Day 23

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

A whole lot more comfortable day – I slept really well last night.  Also a good time to paint, when I came home from rheumatologist and infusion, Brad that the other three doors painted.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

The doors looked really great, though Brad was concerned the yellow of the basement door might show through.  He wasn’t too sure about the two sides of the sliding door either – one side pink, one side green.  He had to do an extra coat for the inside fo the pantry door because of the darker blue.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

They turned out beautifully and  it was cool enough so the paint stayed wet long enough to use the brush to smooth the strokes.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

It’s my photography that makes the tops of the doors look yellow, not Brad’s paint job.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

He also had the paint shop open again for the molding for the kitchen baseboards.  The old floor had the lino curved up the wall with glue that keeps it on forever.  Brad tried to get it off, but he would have to use a chisel and a lot of time and elbow grease.  He found some 5″ molding and those are the three wide pieces.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Not quite sure where the narrower pieces go – I know Brad does.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

He is very versatile – he has set up his saw in several places, depending on what he is doing.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Today is right outside the small garage door – close to an outlet and nothing he can  mess up – certainly not the flower beds.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

I think these long molding are for the back door.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

The doors are dry and now they are in their proper places and fitting in with what we had in mind.  This side of the pocket door faces the living room, but it will fit in when we paint the living room.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Now the doors are their proper color – what a difference they make to the kitchen.  The bits of blue tape on the left are holding the trim for the partitions surrounding the fridge.  Brad glued them and it using the tape to keep them in place.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

The basement door also looks like part of the kitchen now.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

All the cabinet doors have been taped and are ready for the knobs.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

I am anxious to see how they look with the knobs.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Everything is measured and aligned, all ready to go.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Now the pantry door is hung – wow, how wonderful it all looks.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

That is one knob on, Brad wanted me to see how it looks.  Beautiful!

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

It is going to be so cool when they are all on!

885785419540lg

This is my cabinet knob.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Brad put up a piece of the 5″ molding so we could see how it looks – I love it.

It really is coming together now.  We are leaving the cardboard on the floor until it is all finished so nothing has a chance to scratch, scrape or gouge my lovely new floor.

Posted by: eekaplanian1 | July 4, 2013

Day 22

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

The floor of the pantry still needs some new flooring and it turns out, there is enough to put at the top of the stairs.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Brad rehung the kitchen blind – he was so hot on Friday because the blind hasn’t been there.  Since I don’t want my contractor to get sick, I suggested rehanging the blind.  Today is such a hot day, I think he will appreciate things a bit cooler.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

I am so glad to have it back myself, it really makes a difference in the temperature inside the house.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

We had a spanner in the works – the electricity went off at 9:30 last night and was still off in the morning.  I had no idea what time it was when I called Brad to let him know – turns out it was just about 7, when I planned to call.  He appreciated that I let him know.  So he decided to work on where the knobs go, turned out to be an interesting discussion as to whether the knobs on the drawers would be centered or up a bit.  Then came the question of cupboard knobs and how to line them up.

Then I had to leave for my chiropractor appointment and massage.  I knew it would be comfortable in both places, I hoped the electricity would come back on soon.  Today is the hottest day so far.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

I gave Brad my bucket of knobs, I am sure I have enough.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

While I was gone, Brad went around the kitchen putting tape as he measured for the knobs.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

My wee bucket of knobs.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

I found the pantry door off –

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

The basement door on the porch too.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Brad opened up the paint shop again.  He is doing the outside with the trim color with the bricks and the interior side with the kitchen trim.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Unfortunately it was not the best day to paint because it was too hot.  The painted dried so fast he wasn’t able to have the clean strokes he wanted so it would have a smooth look.  He decided the other two doors would have to wait for another day.  It was around 11 when the electricity came back, so he could have used the saw and did what he needed to do if he wanted.

I know we are wimps when it comes to hot weather or really cold stuff – we aren’t used to it and as far as I am concerned, this is the only reasonable place to live.  I still don’t understand friends who tell me they love hot weather – the hotter, the better.

It is such an uncomfortably hot day, the night before was miserable to sleep.  I finally got up in the night, took my Arnica and went out into the living room to apply it because my shoulders hurt so much.  I think I slept in the chair a bit and around 4 went back to bed as Eddie was getting up to go to work.  I’ve been feeling at sixes and sevens all day, almost as if the world is scattered to the four winds and I don’t know how to pull it all back together.  I had a massage with Debye and was able to release some  really heavy crap I have been carrying around with me all my life.

Day 21

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

The tile man came this morning and I was surprised to see Greg back – he was running a snake through the kitchen drain out to the  big one in the middle of the bank.  Plus Brad and also the plumbing inspector – hot and cold running men in the house.  I had to wait to see the tile until I came back from my hair cut.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Gives the wall and counter a little accent – I really like it.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

It goes all around the counters – the tile guy is Russian and since business isn’t up as much, he seems a bit gloomy.  Otherwise he is a nice young man.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

I may not have the old dishwasher and stove, but the porch doesn’t look much different.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

At the end I taking taking the picture from, there is still the pieces of the old floor and the old back door.  Sometimes it looks as if we live in rural West Virginia.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Brad is putting in the partitions that go on either side of the fridge.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

I love the kitchen and certainly it is such a luxury to have a sink and water again.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

You can see the framework he built to hold the upper cabinet while he fastens it to the wall.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Now when you come from the dining room, there is a bit of a wall.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

This is how it looks from the doorway.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

New range hooked up and the backsplash, plus the doors are on again, though the shelves are in the living room.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

The upper cabinet is now up and with its doors.  The pantry has its door again.  Doors go on and off very frequently though out the process, but I can still see how wonderful the kitchen looks.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

At the end of the day, the porch looks so much more spacious.  The box down in the corner is what he made to help him put the upper cabinets up and stay while he attached the.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

No saws or saw horses in sight – he does such a great job of cleaning up before he leaves,

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

No more old floor or back door.  He managed to full the back of his truck with the big carpenter’s bags, the old floor, the door and who knows what else.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Still stuff in the living room, all the shelves are in front of the desk.

Before he left, Brad asked if we wanted him to take up the cardboard on the kitchen floor,  It is down there to protect the floor while work is still being done.  I said to leave it, I am tempted to leave it there permanently so I won’t ever have to clean the floor.

Day 20

This morning I have to go up to the Center to meet Mom when her new shoes come.  I had a drive full of trucks, Brad, the appliances, the plumber – feels like hot and cold running men in my house.  I didn’t really get to see much of what they were doing because I had to leave at 10, so there are only a few of the appliances arriving.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Now there are two dishwashers on the porch – one was bad enough.  However, this one is brand spanking new and I can’t wait to have it installed and working.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

I notice Brad has also covered the new floor with cardboard – I might leave it on all the time so the floor won’t get dirty.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Can’t really tell what it is, but I’m glad Greg is the one putting it in for us.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

When I came home – all went well with Mom and her shoes, though she was a little cranky – I found an empty parking space,  plus the new stove in the kitchen.  Also, only one dishwasher on the porch.  Now we have a bit more room.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

It is getting a little emptier in the living room, though that is no guarantee it won’t be filled again.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

New things for in front of the fireplace, though now I won’t have to be really careful of the vinyl roll if I want to open the front door.  The little box in front of the tv is tile for my backsplash.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Greg has the sink and faucet in and working – now for the jigsaw puzzle of the dishwasher.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Wow!  My new stove, not quite ready for use since it is going on the opposite wall.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Time to move the dishwasher into place.  Greg had some problem getting it to fit in the space, not a new experience for him.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Still one dishwasher on the porch along with all kinds of other stuff, like recycle, tools, buckets – empty and also full of compounds.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

We’ve had rain off and on all day, good thing the porch has a roof.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

At last!  Water in the faucet, a sink and disposer as well as a dishwasher soon.  No more washing dishes in the bathroom sink.  Hoorah!

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

That is my disposer, so glad not to have to put everything in the bin.  We have lovely bins in the cabinet, so we won’t  need the white one that tends to smell a bit and is a bit in the way around the back door.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Time to put in the microwave/convection oven above the range.  Brad was glad to have Greg help him with this,                          a bit heavy to hold while attaching it.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

They make a great team.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Brad is working on the vent for the stove and little oven.  He had to go up in the attic to make sure there was a whole outside.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

No more dishwasher on the porch.  Greg was working on making sure it fit and was put in properly.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

These are the vent pipes that go in the cabinet above the stove.  He had a bit of trouble getting them to fit properly.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Happy days!  We now have a working sink, faucet, disposal and dishwasher!  No more washing in the bathroom sink.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

A simple faucet and now a stainless sink so I don’t have to scrub stains as I had to with porcelain.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

By George, Brad put the vent pipes in just the way they were meant to go.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

When Brad has had to go up in the attic, the front closet has to be emptied – guess where?

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

All our coats are there, we definitely have to go through them and  decide what to keep.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

The front of the new stove – there is a drawer underneath but it is on the counter at the moment.  I wanted self clean and the burner knobs in the front, I am tired of reaching in the back and finding my sleeve has been on the hot burner.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

How about that!  Now we have a new oven in place as well as a small oven above.  And we can use it if we want.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Love having knobs in the front.  To be honest, I need to read the directions to see how to work this, plus the instructions for loading the dishwasher effectively.

It has been quite an eventful day.   The joy of having water in the kitchen again is monumental after four weeks.  I am more and more in awe of how wonderful the kitchen looks, so much more than my imagination.
