Day 4

The electrician was due to come today, so I made sure I had plenty to keep me away from the house since I thought he would be turning off the electricity.  I had a massage scheduled and then ended up going to the beach to enjoy the sunshine and the sound of the waves.  When I left, not much was different from the day before and I wasn’t able to do much in the way of photographing stages while I was away.  Mostly I think Brad spent the most of the day working on the  sliding door and making sure all the drywall that had the sticky stuff from the tiles.

Finally had the drywall off ready for the electrician and later the inspector.

The pictures on this post are more from just before the remodel started.

These are the honeycomb shades we bought last year to help with warmth in the winter and cooler in the summer.  This is the dining room window.

This is the living room window and you can also see where the big stickery bush has been dug out.

Instead of having the trees and bush  engulfing the garage, we now can actually see the whole building.

We also had gravel put on the drive and it looks and works so much better.

This is up by the garage doors and the end of the sidewalk.

This is the other side of the garage where we go in for the cars.  There was a huge stump from the Royal Anne cherry tree that got so big that it pushed the garage over, making it list to the right.  Mom and Dad  had the tree cut down but left the stump.  John came and ground down the stump so we now have a proper flower bed.

John’s crew also cleared out the bed by the back porch but left the blueberry bushes.  I’m sure they appreciate having more room without blackberry bushes, holly and weeds crowding them.

Mom had a lovely climbing rose on the trellis and earlier this year Kathy took it so it would have a loving home.  She also took a couple of roses from the front rose garden, they too now have a loving home.  I am not big on gardening, so I prefer to have someone who cares take them rather than just dig them up and throw them away.

The wisteria used to be here in this corner – lovely flowers but the tendrils would drive me crazy and kept working its way down the bed.  I am glad to have it gone.  now we need to figure out what to do to keep it from becoming weeds again.

This is the other end of the front of the house.  The big space is where the big sticker bush used to be – obscuring the view.

This is the other end of the front of the house, right by the back porch.  There was a large forsythia bush there, John and his crew took that one out as well.  There is still a forsythia in the middle of the bed, but it isn’t overpowering the house and the view.

A small tour of the outside of the house.
